Going Places: A Non-Profit Charity

Going Places is a non-profit organization that aims to bring joy to children in need. Founded in 2016 by Katie Blomquist, the goal was to provide new, high-quality bikes to all 650 students in her school via a GoFundMe campaign. News of the campaign went viral, including coverage on shows such as Good Morning America, The Today Show and ABC World News. Finally, on March 30, 2017, Katie was able to surprise every student with a brand new bike.

Her vision didn't stop there, however. The goal of Going Places, through their “Give a bike. Give joy.” program is to get every child in all 31 Title 1 elementary schools a bike, lock and helmet in a maximum of eight years, and then to continue on to neighboring districts. The organization has also created two other programs: “Give a costume. Give joy.” and “Give a surprise. Give joy.”
